The Sany SY215 is a 20-tonne class hydraulic crawler excavator positioned in the mid-size segment of the construction equipment market. It is manufactured by Sany, one of the largest heavy equipment producers globally, and is designed to balance digging force, reach, and transportability across a broad range of site conditions. The SY215 competes directly with established 20-tonne class machines from Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, Hitachi, and Liebherr in the European market.
Mid-size crawler excavators in the 20-tonne class are routinely deployed on civil engineering projects, road construction, pipeline installation, and general earthmoving operations. Their combination of digging depth, bucket capacity, and ground pressure makes them suitable for both confined urban sites and open greenfield developments. Foundation work, drainage trenching, and bulk material handling are among the most common productive roles for machines of this type.
Prospective buyers should conduct a full hydraulic system inspection, checking for cylinder seal condition, hose integrity, and pump pressure performance across all functions. Undercarriage wear on crawler excavators of this class is a significant cost driver, so buyers should assess track pad thickness, sprocket wear, roller condition, and final drive play carefully. A review of service records for scheduled maintenance intervals, filter changes, and any prior structural repairs to the boom, arm, or slew ring is strongly recommended. An independent pre-purchase inspection by a qualified hydraulic excavator technician is advisable before committing to any transaction.
In the European used equipment market, the Sany SY215 is currently positioned at an average asking price of EUR 95,000, with the observed price range also centred at EUR 95,000. This places the machine in a competitive bracket against 20-tonne class units from Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, Hitachi, and Liebherr, where buyers typically weigh Sany's lower initial acquisition cost against the more established dealer and parts networks of those brands. The pricing data reflects a single consistent reference point for this model in the current European market.
